Also known as a barge-mounted power plant, this is the second based on its predecessor the Estrella del Mar III.
The new power plant will be based on its predecessor, the Estrella del Mar III. When completed, it will enhance the Dominican Republic's energy infrastructure with greater efficiency, flexibility and sustainability.
ST Engineering's Marine business and Siemens Energy have been awarded a second contract to deliver Estrella del Mar IV in Dominican Republic.
According to Siemens Energy, building the plant in Singapore and delivering it as a plug-and-play solution helps cut both costs and construction time compared with a traditional land-based facility. Once completed, Estrella del Mar IV will be installed next to Estrella del Mar III, which began operations in 2022.
